Description

Gentleman's Rolex Prince in solid silver with 'Brancard' (flared) case. This is one of the 'patent protective cap' models. Model number: 971u.

Case

Very beautiful and original solid silver case is in excellent condition. This particular model is sometimes known as the 'big flare' as the lugs are slightly more pronounced than the other flared Prince variant (ref: 1491). Rear cover is stamped with model and serial numbers on the outside and more importantly, UK hallmarks (Glasgow import) hallmarks for Sterling Silver and a date letter 'h' for 1930 on the inside along with 'Rolex, 25 World's Records, Geneve, Suisse'. There are also some watchmakers marks on the inside from when the watch has been previously serviced. The top part of the case also bears the .925 Sterling Silver hallmark.

Case dimensions are 24mm across in the middle (26mm at 'flare'), 9mm thick and 42.5mm lug to lug.

Dial & Crystal

Very rare, original white dial is in excellent condition for its age and has Arabic numerals around the outside with an inner minute chapter ring. Dial is signed 'Rolex Prince' with 'Swiss Made' at 6 o'clock. Original blued steel hands are also in excellent condition. Crystal is in mint condition with no scratches or chips.

Bracelet/Strap

Brand new, black leather strap with Crocodile finish complete with steel buckle. We feel this traditional, almost flat watch strap complements the watch's style and vintage.

Movement

All original, 'Extra Prima' manual winding movement in very fine condition. Movement has just been serviced and is running beautifully. Movement is signed 'Rolex, 15 rubies' with the number '72488', 'Timed 6 Positions, Observatory Quality' & Swiss Made'.
