#51075- Rolex Oyster Imperial In 18ct Yellow Gold With Original Black Sub Seconds Dial Year: 1937 Price: SOLD Shipping (Within UK): £7.50 Shipping (Worldwide): £12 Description Gentleman's Rolex Oyster Imperial in 18ct yellow gold with original black sub-seconds dial. Very rare in 18ct gold and especially with original dial. A very similar watch was recently sold through Antiquorum for £4,325. This is a particularly rare Oyster variant as it is a three piece case model and references to it appear in various well known publications such as James Dowling & Jeffrey Hess' 'The Best Of Time - Rolex Wristwatches' where this exact/actual watch is featured on page 74 (second edition). There is also another solid gold example featured on page 110 of Osvaldo Patrizzi's 'Collecting Rolex Wristwatches'. Case Very rare, 18ct yellow gold three-piece case is in very fine and original condition with original 'Oyster Patent' winding crown. Case is highly polished on sides and top with a satin finish to the underside. Rear cover is also finished to a high polish and still retains the Rolex coronet and both its model and serial numbers. The case still retains it's 'fixed-bar' strap fixing so this watch requires open-ended straps. Case dimensions are 30mm in diameter (not including crown), 9.5mm thick and 38.5mm lug to lug. Dial & Crystal Stunning original black sub-seconds dial is in excellent condition with only the slightest of marks. The original gold lettering has detached over time but the wording can still be made out (although not in these images). The dial is signed 'Rolex Oyster' in curved type with 'Imperial Chronometer' underneath and 'Fab Suisse - Swiss Made' at 6 o'clock. Bracelet/Strap We have fitted a brand new, hand made 'artisanal' London strap to the watch, finished in matt black with gold-filled buckle. Please note that this is a 'fixed-bar' case and will require an open-ended strap should the new owner decide to change it. We are also Hirsch stockists and can change the strap to any from their 'Classic' machine made range, or 'artisanal' range of superb hand-made straps if you desire - including open-ended type (subject to cost).
