Gentleman's Jaeger LeCoultre 'Futurematic' in 10ct gold-filled case with original light silver dial and black Hirsch alligator strap. Lovely example of a classic, groundbreaking watch. This is the rarer 'porthole' dial version with calibre 817 movement.
Case
10ct yellow gold-filled case is in truly outstanding condition for a 60+ year old watch - it really is a mint example! The rather futuristic design of the watch removed the winding crown from its traditional position at 3 o'clock and placed it on the rear of the case giving it a very svelt and clean look. I did hear that JLC actually sold each watch at a loss because of the complexity and over-engineering of the movement - a real Concord/Bugatti moment in Swiss watchmaking history!
Case dimensions are 35.5mm in diameter, 12mm thick and 44mm lug to lug.
Dial & Crystal
Beautiful and original light silver dial with mixture of applied numbers and 'dagger' hour markers. This is the rarer 'porthole' design and is much more uncommon than the earlier calibre 497 version which featured regular sub-dials and small hands. This version features small 'portholes' at 3 o'clock with 'up/down' power reserve at 9 o'clock (aka Reserve de Marche) and a second showing seconds at 3 o'clock. Dial is signed 'LeCoultre Futurematic' with 'Swiss' at 6 o'clock.
Acrylic crystal has just been replaced is perfect with no marks or scratches of any kind.

Brand new, Hirsch 'Artisanal' alligator strap finished in black with gold-filled buckle (RRP: £109).
